Bill Edwards
Degrees Contact Info Bill Edwards began teaching at Columbus State in 1974 after earning his Ph.D. in interpersonal communication from Southern Illinois University. His current teaching assignments include public speaking, interpersonal, political communication, intercultural communication, communication theories, and networked communication. He is a member of the International Communication Association, National Communication Association, and the Southern States Communication Association. He has served as chair of Southern States’ Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Communication Theories Divisions. He is currently Vice-Chair-elect of the Political Communication Division. Dr. Edwards is an advocate of travel for education and scholarship. He has traveled to several African, Asian, Latin American, and European countries. He has written textbooks for his public speaking and interpersonal communication courses. For recreation Bill enjoys kayaking on nearby rivers and creeks. Digital photography, especially macro subjects, has developed into an enjoyable hobby. Bill’s interest in photography grew out of his desire to better document his international travels. Perhaps his most consuming pastime is reading. He avidly reads both fiction and nonfiction, especially travel, history, and biographies.
