The Folder Requirement
You are required to maintain a folder of all critique sheets, graded examinations, a log of all speeches (click on log for a copy of the MS Word form), preparation worksheets (make a paper copy of the reviewed copy of e-worksheets), returned homework, and a final self-assessment. Please turn in this material loose-leaf in a pocket-style folder. You are penalized one letter grade if you fail to turn in this folder. Since I will need to re-arrange your material as I look at your folder, please don't staple or fasten different assignments together. Class notes and handouts should not be included in the folder. This folder serves two purposes: one, it provides you with a record of your performance, and, two, it provides the professor a description of your performance (this is especially helpful in those cases were there is uncertainty about your final letter grade). The final assignment due with the folder will be a self-assessment (specific instructions on this assignment will be provided).
Your speaking log should include the day, name of the assignment or subject of the speech, and how long it lasted (an estimate acceptable when the speech is not timed). You are not required to use the professor form, but if you wish to do so you may download it here.
Special Consideration
Should you have any reason to remind me or advise me of an appropriate need for special consideration, you should attach a sheet of paper entitled "Special Consideration" to your self-assessment (with your name and CRN). I will read your reminder/explanation and act accordingly.
Should you fail to turn in an assignment on time or if you received an unsatisfactory rating on a worksheet, you should put the (corrected) assignment in your folder for (re)evaluation at the end of the course. If you have, otherwise, a good record of promptly completing your work, you should expect to receive full consideration without a significant penalty. A pattern of unsatisfactory or tardy homework is not acceptable. Of course, if you don't require any special consideration (and most students don't), you will not need to include a request for special consideration. Any form of special consideration may be presented on your "Special Consideration" sheet.
